  After completing the work  "Beginning -a view from the space ship", I wanted to explore further the concept of how our imagery perception can be changed with narratives.
 In preparation of this work, I had a series of interviews with a woman called “Lady H” over a two-month period. I knew nothing about her prior to this work.
We exchanged several correspondences and sometimes she took me out for a walk around Tokyo.
Consequently, I created a fictional story about her inner thoughts and the landscape that lives in her mind.
The purpose of this work is for viewers to experience her inner world by listing to the fictional story and learning it through the different senses: namely, hearing, smelling, and from witnessing.


Outline
Place: A teahouse in Hosomi museum (Hosomi museum in Kyoko is renowned for its exquisite old Japanese garden and tea house.)
5 performances / day x 4 days = 20 performances.  Reservation only.

Beginning - A view from the space ship

The ceremony of rediscovering the everyday scenery.
   
This work can be interpreted as a ceremony of rediscovering the everyday  scenery around us.
By listening to a fictional story of the link between our lives and the universe, the view in front of us somehow is changed. Even the way we look at the sky can be slightly different after taking part in the work.
At the end of this work, audience opens his eyes and sees the view of Tokyo city right in fort of him as this small room has an entire wall made of glass.
The view is incredible. 
Now he is left in the room, looking out the window, one particular day, one particular moment, facing the view of Tokyo metropolis with its gigantic Shinjyuku buildings further away.None of the elements in each performance were the same; the condition of the light in the room, temperature, the view from the window and even the way story was  told.

景色と出会い直す為の儀式。

観客は何もしらぬままに指示された部屋を一人で訪れ、待っている女性に出会う。
その女性から、ひとりの少女と洪水とご先祖様と宇宙の繋がりの物語を聞いた後、目の前に変化しつづける空が開かれる。
窓の向こうには、その日、その時間だけの空と新宿都心のビル群がある。
私は、宇宙船としての此処に立っている。

甘酒、ストーリーテラー、景色。

部屋は薄暗いが、ブラインドの向こう側からは光が漏れている。

山のあとさき

山の坂道を自転車でドンドン下っておりるとき、最初はその山の中にわたしはいる。

けれど、その時に山の姿を眺めることはできない。

やがて平地に降り立ったとき、わたしは山を初めて眺めることができる。

けれど、もうその時にはわたしは山の中にはいない。
山と密接に接している時、わたしは山の全体を知ることはできない

福岡県北九州市にある国際交流ビルの壁面に２台のプロジェクターを使って映像を

投影した。当日、同ビルの庭でPARTYを開催し、山の形をしたケーキを観客に配布

した。この庭にいると、前に映像の投影されているビルがあり、背後にはこの町の

シンボルの皿倉山がある。　　

この作品はスクリーニングを変更して2001年の展覧会（ブラジル）で発表された。

Yama no Atosaki (Leaving behind)

  When we ride a bicycle going down on the steep hillside, with its slanting lane and sheer speed, we can not see the whole image of the mountain as we are still "inside" of it. Then, as we reach the bottom of the mountain and riding away from it we see the whole shape of the mountain but we are no longer inside of it. Riding a bicycle can give me a sense of flying at a steep hillside, and it also tells me the shape of the mountain, the distance with the sky, and how the mountain merge with flat lands -- perhaps, it tells how a mountain lies.
 Two video projectors were used showing the images on the wall outside of the
building. We held a party at the garden right in front of the building for the
screening day. For the guests, I prepared a cake which had a shape of a mountain.
 The garden was facing the building and on the other side, there was a mountain, which is considered to be the symbol of this city; Sarakura mountain.


This work was also shown at the group exhibition in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
